Blues Pentatonic Scale: Position I

Blues Pentatonic Scale Position I Gif

This diagram illustrates the Blues Pentatonic (Pentatonic: meaning 5 notes) Scale in the first position. The Purple grid is the guitar neck, frets, and nut. The Yellow lines are the guitar strings. The White circles are position markers that are usually located at the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and two markers at the 12th fret. The Red markers indicate the root note in the scale. The numbers in the Green and Red circles are the fingering positions: 1-Index, 2-Middle, 3-Ring, 4-Pinky. The root note pictured here is F. Try practicing this scale by moving up the neck with the root note starting at a different fret positions. For example: start with the root note on the 3rd fret, then the 5th fret, and so on.
